Russo’s New York Pizzeria opens in Cypress

Russo’s New York Pizzeria opens in Cypress

If you live in Cypress or just pass by the area, Russo’s New York Pizzeria should be on your list to stop and eat. Russo’s New York Pizzeria opened it’s newest location in Cypress this past June. I visited the restaurant recently as part of a tasting thanks to Russo’s with my son to try out a few items on the menu and to talk with the management staff. During my visit, several people stopped by hoping to get in and you can tell by the many visitors their anticipation for the store to open was high.

The layout of the restaurant is great for large parties or smaller groups. A nice bar sits in the entrance near a menu for guests to view while they wait. Russo’s promotes using fresh ingredients in its food. The menu offers an array of salads, soups, appetizers, pastas, pizza and deserts.

What I ate:

Usually when I go to a new restaurant, my plan is always to go back again. There were so many items I wanted to try I chose the traditional items this time around. I ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip and Buffalo Chicken Wings to start with first. You could tell the ingredients inside the dip was fresh. I could taste the flavors of the spinach and artichoke and the Alfredo sauce. I love buffalo wings. I can be a little picky with my feedback. These were good, but I would of loved if they were fried naked without the batter then tossed.

This giant pizza at Russo’s New York Pizzeria is great for large parties

For my main meal, I ordered a half pepperoni and half cheese pizza. In my opinion a good pizza should have some grease, but the cheese makes the pizza. If a restaurant uses the wrong type of cheese or doesn’t invest enough in the cheese you can tell because the pizza comes out extra greasy. This pizza didn’t give me that effect. I’ve tried a few pizza places in the Cypress area and the one thing I hate to do is pat down my pizza with a napkin because it’s so greasy. My son even told me he loved this pizza, which is huge for me because he also shares my love for pizza.
